Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, also known as SIDS, is a very common and leading cause of death for children under the age of one. Every year, approximately two thousand three hundred children die from this syndrome. The reason why this syndrome can occur is based upon the mother’s activity during pregnancy, how they place their child when sleeping, or even where they place their child to sleep. Studies have shown that the majority of children that die from this syndrome are children of teen mothers. Teen mothers are not aware of the risk factors leading to SIDS or may have not even heard of it yet. I would like to team up with a hospital group that can form a class for mothers to learn more about the syndrome and the risk factors that they should avoid. My end product will be a pamphlet that will have information and a brief summary from the class session. I want it to be informational but also short and brief for mothers to understand how serious SIDS can be. If more mothers are aware of the situation of SIDS, the amount of children dying from this syndrome can decrease and the more children that will live.
